Spyware! What is it? What does it do to my computer?
A simple definition of Spyware: a general term used to describe software that performs certain behaviors such as advertising, collecting personal information, or changing the configuration of your computer, generally without appropriately obtaining your consent first.
Spyware is often associated with software that displays advertisements (called adware) or software that tracks personal or sensitive information. The most common type of spyware is pop up banners that never stop! You close them, and they keep returning. Im sure we have all had this problem once. Spyware in a nut shell, basically makes your computer run really slow. Once a computer is infected, the software usually uses your internet connection to download more.
How can i get rid of it?
The easiet way to get rid of spyware is with software. The good news is, the best programs are avaliable for free download! Now before we get into that, i reccomend you use firefox as your internet web browser you can get it here
Internet explorer would have to be one the of the worst, because it is most popular and most spyware can easily enter your system.
If you are running windows Xp, you should have windows defender running. This program runs in the background and monitors your system. Its not the best program, but is a must. Its totally free if you are running a legit copy of windows Xp.
Two other great programs Adaware SE personal and Spybot search and destroy
Simply downloading these programs and running scans may detect most problems, however they may not detect all. This is where other programs come in.

Spyware question of the week!
Ive downloaded the programs you mentioned and run the scans. Ive still got popups! Why didnt it remove them?
First of all, did you update the spyware definitions? Most people forget you have to run an update before you scan. If you did this and it still didnt remove, try Spywaredoctor. This program isnt free, but its worth it.
